Valmeinier 1800

A paradise for skiers and snowboarders

Three villages – one varied winter sports paradise: Together with Valmeinier 1500 and Valloire, Valmeinier 1800 makes up the Galibier Thabor ski area – the fifth largest of its kind in the Savoy region, with 160 kilometres of slopes.

Stunning slopes for all skill levels in the Maurienne region

Only 100 metres from the village centre, the winter sports fun begins. That’s where the chairlift takes you up to Le Gros Crey with its varied descents and slopes – the perfect start to your ski adventure. The wide slopes are ideal for beginners and leisure skiers as well as for fans of carving. If you prefer leaving your tracks in fresh powder and on pristine descents, we recommend the less visited mountainsides of Pointe la Sandonière.

By the way: For snowboarders, the daily groomed Snowpark du Lac de la Vieille at Crey du Quart offers numerous halfpipes and exciting boardercross tracks for maximum winter sports fun.

INTERSPORT Rent tip

Our RENTertainers recommend

The red Genépi slope

The Genépi slope is a highlight for advanced skiers. Why do winter sports athletes of all ages love it so much? For one, the wide, perfectly groomed slope is simply perfect for leisurely carving and speed skiing. Plus, it offers magnificent views across the Maurienne valley that both skiers and snowboarders will love.

To enjoy this unique slope, take the Pré Aynard chairlift in Valmeinier 1800. At the top, follow the blue slopes Violettes and Bleuets towards Gros Crey chairlift. Once you have reached the mountain station, continue along the blue Myrtilles run.

After two turns, you get to a crossing, where you keep right. That’s where the famous Genépi slope starts, taking you down to the mountain station of Roi chairlift along numerous impressive sections. An experience that will stay with you for a long time to come!

Our tip: If you follow the red Cyclamen and Églantiers slopes, you get to Valmeinier Villages where you can hop on Roi chairlift to start another amazing ski adventure.
